Pfeiffer in talks to join De Niro in ‘Malavita’
Would play matriarch of mob family in Luc Besson pic
After cutting Al Pacino’s finger in Scarface and getting divorced with Alec Baldwin in Married To The Mob, Michelle Pfeiffer retuns to Mob family again, but only this time with another legendary actor Robert De Niro, and, in France! The classic actor who already worked with Michelle in two projects 2007′ Stardust and last year’s New Year’s Eve, however, they never get the chance to share a scene together until “Malavita”!
According to Variety, Pfeiffer is in negotiations to play another tough mother in Luc Besson’s darkly comedic actioner “Malavita,” which stars Robert De Niro.
Pic is the first in a new co-production and co-financing deal between Relativity Media and Besson’s EuropaCorp.
Based on Tonino Benacquista’s book “Badfellas,” story follows a notorious mafia family relocated to France under the witness protection program. While they do their best to fit in, old habits die hard and they soon find themselves handling things the “family” way. Pfeiffer will play De Niro’s wife who has a penchant for arson when crossed.
Besson adapted the script and he’ll also produce the pic, which starts production in August in advance of a 2013 bow. Relativity will release the film stateside, while EuropaCorp will distribute in France and handle international sales.
Pre-production is set to begin in July with filming planned for August at La Cité du Cinéma, where the brand new Studios de Paris are located. Additional shooting will take place in Normandy, France and New York, aiming for a 2013 release.

Omg thanks for this! I can’t wait! And I hope this will push through!!
Gorgeous Pfeiffer
Yeah, and I think since the filming will be take place in two months time, it should be almost confirmed…..hopefully!

I had written earlier about the potential of this team. If the screenplay is good then the great acting of both will be showcased. This could finally be the breakthrough. Cool update Bond.
Gorgeous Pfeiffer
Thanks Alan, are you travelling around the world? It looks like your ip is different everytime so the system isn’t able to recognize you and approve your comment immediately…sorry for the troubles and thanks for your patient!!!=)

A lot of movie bloggers like to criticise De Niro; but I agree with Alan that if the screenplay is good it’ll be wonderful to see these two cinematic icons finally share the screen.
Thanks for the update.
P.S. I love your artwork too.
Gorgeous Pfeiffer
Thanks Paul! =) hopefully new projects are coming one by one!

Cool:)

Bond, there appear to be many headlines and articles at this point that seem to indicate that she has signed on. Do you know whether it is confirmed?
Gorgeous Pfeiffer
There’s no official confirmation yet, as they only mentioned the “in talks” status, but since the filming will be started in 2 months time, I think the percentage is real high or almost a done deal, otherwise they won’t spread it out.

Bond:
Have you heard anything more on the Malavita negotiation? I am a little concerned about the screenplay and the execution of the comedic elements. Michelle claims to not be a comedienne althogh she executes comedy brilliantly if the screenplay stands behind her. Any word that that Michelle’s “signing on” is in the offing? Thanks
Alan
It appears that “Variety” and other sources report that Michelle has recently joined. Tommy Lee Jones is in talks to play an FBI agent who keeps tabs on De Niro and Pfeiffer who are in the witness protection program. This could be getting very good.
Gorgeous Pfeiffer
That’s a very good news I suppose but basically I’m not familiar with his work…for your question about the comdedic-based on the project, I think it gonna to be light comedy? And u can always find some drama in it and it always happens on Michelle’s part.
