It has been a long time since Michelle Pfeiffer working on a new project, and finally she’s back, not a theater movie yet, but a long-awaited HBO movie with Robert De Niro “The Wizard of Lies”. HBO released the first look of the Madoff couple today, and OMG! Both Michelle & Robert are so into the characters and we haven’t seen Michelle playing a character which is so different from her usual glamour look, I already can smell some solid performance by these great actors.

The filming of “The Wizard of Lies” has begin, and Michelle also being spotted in the JFK International Airport early this week, hopefully some more materials will be released soon.

First Look: Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer in HBO’s Bernie Madoff Film ‘The Wizard of Lies’

Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer are completely morphed into Bernie Madoff and Ruth Madoff, respectively, in the first photo from HBO’s “The Wizard of Lies.”

The film examines Bernie Madoff’s massive Ponzi scheme, from how it was perpetrated on the public to the trail of destruction it left behind.

Hank Azaria (who plays Frank Dipascali) and Alessandro Nivola (Mark Madoff) also star in the pic. The movie is directed by Barry Levinson, who also serves as executive producer along with De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh; Jason Sosnoff co-executive produces.

“The Wizard of Lies” was written by John Burnham Schwartz and Sam Baum and Sam Levinson, based on Diana Henriques’ 2012 book of the same name, with additional source material from Laurie Sandell’s “Truth and Consequences.”

ABC has an upcoming miniseries about the Madoffs as well. “Madoff,” starring Richard Dreyfuss as Bernie and Blythe Danner as Ruth, is based on ABC News chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross’ book “The Madoff Chronicles.”
