Michelle Pfeiffer Plays the Original Wasp in Ant-Man and the Wasp!

When we are all being exciting and curious about ‘Mother!’, Michelle surprised us again by joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Marvel announced the former Catwoman will play Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, which scheduled to be released on July 6, 2018,  Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said Michelle was their dream choice even when making the first film.
According to THE WRAP –
Amidst the hype for “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” Marvel Studios announced at its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con that Michelle Pfeiffer  will swap out Catwoman’s whip for some shrinking technology and play Janet Van Dyne, the long-lost wife of Hank Pym and the original Wasp in next summer’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”
In the first “Ant-Man,” Van Dyne was a SHIELD agent who fought alongside Pym using the Ant-Man and Wasp suits they developed together. The two worked extremely well together, but in 1987, their partnership…and marriage…came to a tragic end when they were tasked with stopping a Soviet missile from killing millions of innocent people.
With no other option, Van Dyne sacrificed herself by shrinking past the point of no return to disarm the bomb, becoming lost in the Quantum Realm in the process. The loss of Van Dyne caused Pym to retire from SHIELD and hang up his Ant-Man suit for good…until Scott Lang dragged him and his daughter, Hope, back into the world of superheroes by stealing the Ant-Man suit during the first movie. Serving as a mentor to Lang convinced Pym to move on from losing his wife and fellow superhero, and he chose to give Hope a new version of the Wasp suit to follow in the footsteps of her mother.
Before she jumps into the MCU, Pfeiffer will star alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Ed Harris and Javier Bardem in Darren Aronofsky’s “Mother!”, which comes out September 15. She will also be in the ensemble cast of the upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express,” which comes out in November.
Pfeiffer will be joined in the sequel by returning “Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas, with Peyton Reed returning to direct the sequel. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” premieres July 6, 2018.
TIME also giving a detailed description on how they introduced Michelle during the Comic Con 2017 –
Marvel kicked off its panel at San Diego Comic-Con with a video of Paul Rudd and Michael Pena from next summer’s upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp. The duo explained the entire Marvel universe to Michelle Pfeiffer, who is going to join the film as Janet Van Dyne.
After they get their way through explaining all the Avengers — from Iron Man to Thor —Pfeiffer replies. “Sounds like a sausage fest.”
“It is,” replies Evangeline Lilly, who plays the Wasp — the first female superhero movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get her name in the title of a film. “I’m so glad you’re here.”
“I wanted to ask you,” Pfeiffer says. “When I played Catwoman they didn’t leave a place for me to go to the bathroom in the costume.”
Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studio, went on to announce that Laurence Fishburne would also join the movie as Dr. Bill Foster. Randall Park will also star as Jimmy Woo and Walton Goggins will play the villain. The movie is due out July 6.
It also makes the reunion of Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd since 2007’s ‘I Could Never Be Your Woman’, a romantic comedy about a single mother falls into a younger man.

Honestly we never expect Michelle will become a part of the MCU and her role as Catwoman in DC’s Batman Returns was so iconic, but never say never, even the first Batman (Michael Keaton) also showed up in the latest Spiderman movie, so we are really exciting and fun to see Michelle playing another comics character again!
