WASHINGTON – Golden Globe Award winner and three-time Academy Award nominated actress Michelle Pfeiffer has joined the board of directors at EWG. She brings not only enormous influence, but also a longstanding commitment to environmental health to the group’s governing body.

“Michelle is one of the most recognized and celebrated actresses in the world, but she’s also a dedicated mother and staunch advocate for children’s environmental health, and a longtime supporter and ally of EWG. Just this past May, Michelle brought her star power to EWG by headlining our annual Earth Dinner and awards program in San Francisco,” said EWG co-founder, president and board chair Ken Cook. “My fellow board members and I could not be more excited that Michelle will be lending her considerable insights and passion on behalf of the environment and health to EWG’s already impressive board.”

“Like millions of parents, I’ve relied on EWG research for many years to help my family avoid toxic chemicals and lead a healthier life,” said Pfeiffer. “Today, EWG’s product ratings, like the pioneering EWG VERIFIEDTMprogram, are shifting entire consumer markets toward safer choices. And now more than ever, we need EWG to lead the fight for a clean environment in Washington. I am very proud to serve on the board and help advance the mission of one of the country’s most influential environmental organizations.”

Pfeiffer joins Meg Cadoux-Hirshberg, Laura Turner Seydel, Dr. Harvey Karp and Nina Montee Karp, David Baker, Robert Fetherstonhaugh, Christine Gardner, Melissa Hughes, Mark Hyman, MD, C.J. Kettler, Elise Museles, Randy Paynter, Drummond Pike, William Ross, Kim Rozenfeld, Serena Torrey Roosevelt and Ken Cook.
