Interesting insights from the Empire article. Burton expresses some frustration with the chemistry betweeh Michelle and Keaton. Ultimately, it contributed enormously to the movie. The Empire article mentions her chemistry with other leading men. Also I recall a scene in Sweet Liberty where Michelle with her hand on Michael Caine’s lucky bottom demonstated that she finally succeded in making the chemistry work in the movie within the movie. A woman of enormous talent, romantic chemistry and randiness. No wonder that George Clooney has stated that he wished Michelle was not married when the two of them filmed One Fine Day. Now let’s watch the chemistry between Anne and Christian….

Great work with the transcript Bond, I used to own that copy of Empire magaxine back in the day, sadly it’s long gone, like a lot of my collection of Pfeiffer memorabilia.

Thanks for your insight as well Alan, I like your description of Michelle’s “enormous talent, romantic chemistry and randiness”.
I couldn’t have put it better myself!

Richard Corliss in his review of “The Dark Knight Rises” (Time, July 16,2012) comments: “Michelle Pfeiffer’s frosty-furious Selina, in Tim Burton’s 1992 ‘Batman Returns’ was closer in tone to TDKR.” Corliss confirms my obvious prejudices.
