Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer are Going to War!
It’s about three months time before Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will finally hit the international cinemas in October. Disney just dropped the new exciting trailer yesterday and it looks amazing! A series of promotion should follow in coming months so lets’ finger cross.
according to Vanity Fair…
Well, well: The trailer for the Maleficent sequel—Maleficent: Mistress of Evil—has arrived, and our titular antiheroine is going absolutely mad. The sequel follows up with the evil fairy (played by a goth Angelina Jolie) getting furious at young Aurora (Elle Fanning), her surrogate daughter, because she’s decided to go the way of all young princesses and . . . marry a handsome prince. “Love doesn’t always end well, beastie,” Maleficent declares, forbidding Aurora from getting married. Alas, Aurora doesn’t listen, and decides to go through with it, winning the favor of the prince’s mom, Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer).
It’s not long before the queen and Maleficent go head to head, with the evil fairy giving in to her darker nature and attacking everyone at the engagement party (or, whatever it would be called in ye olden fairytale days). She’s aided by a surprise guest—another horned evil fairy just like her, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. “It’s time to care for your own,” he urges, introducing her to a dark underworld of similar creatures.
The movie looks heavy on the action, with Maleficent waging war on Queen Ingrith, who prepares by rounding up her soldiers and wielding a very King Joffrey-esque crossbow (always a great sign for a character). It’s all very Game of Thrones, but for kids! The trailer also features Pfeiffer and Jolie having furious smize-offs, which is a true delight.
Directed by Joachim Rønning, Maleficent 2 is the latest live-action Disney offering, following this year’s Dumbo and Aladdin... Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will fall neatly in between all these offerings, hitting theaters on October 18.
The official characters of the leading actresses were released two month ago too with the first teaser trailer in May.
